Embrace the Winter Season: Transform Your Business

To start, a quote:

“The greatest danger in times of turbulence is not the turbulence itself but to act with yesterday’s logic.” ~ Peter Drucker

In the world of business, just as in life, we encounter different seasons. Some are marked by abundant growth (2020-2022), while others may seem colder and more challenging. Currently, we find ourselves in the midst of a winter season, where your business might be experiencing a slump. Yet, it is during these times that working ON your business is so incredibly paramount. So, what should you be doing right now?

I’ve been around long enough to know that there are ups & downs in this industry. The ups feel really good because you’re making money, business is booming, and you feel like you’re getting a lot done. But the down times are actually MORE important because they give the opportunity to work ON our business, not IN our business.

You see, to get to the good times, we have to prepare. Right now is the time to be planting seeds, far and wide. We all know that the market will shift eventually, business will come back. When that business comes back, do you want it to be the most amazing season of your career or just another year of appraising? Or worse – what if the next season passes you by?

Think about the 2020-2022 season. Your business did well, right? Orders were flooding your inbox, fees were higher, and you were on fire. But what if I told you that you could have made 2x, 3x, or even 4x the amount if you had spent time ON your business in 2019? We’d all have a nice little nest egg right now.

You’re probably thinking “4x? What’s this guy smoking?” But seriously, hear me out. Think about your business for a second. How’s it running? Are you doing things that someone else could be doing? What are your systems? Do they create a workflow that gives you the highest possible hourly rate? Or another way to phrase that: do your systems maximize the value of your time?

Let’s challenge each other. Here is my challenge for the week: learn one new piece of tech that increases your productivity. JUST ONE. It could be an app, a new computer monitor for your office, a laser measure, a new piece of analytics software, or something even simpler like a spam call blocker (try Hiya or Robokiller).

These down times are absolutely critical for business development. Don’t miss out on the biggest opportunity to finally transform your business into what you’ve always wanted it to be. This is the time to be upgrading your systems, learning new tech, experimenting with new ideas, networking with potential future clients, and building your brand. Heck, take some CE courses while you’re at it! Just make sure you’re doing SOMETHING in your business.
