I’ve always had a fascination with the real estate market. I think it comes from a more general curiosity of how things work. I used to always tinker with things as a child. In fact I remember the day I decided to go into my Dad’s tool shed, grabbed a wrench, and took the training wheels off of my bike by myself. My parents, in utter disbelief, came outside one day to find a five year old streaming down the street on two wheels!
My real estate career began in the appraisal industry. After completing many (5,000+) appraisals for lenders and appraisal management companies (AMC’s), I began to become very frustrated with the rules and regulations being imposed on appraisers which designated who we can talk to and what we can discuss. Often times we as appraisers are not allowed to discuss the appraisal with the homeowner. One of my passions in the appraisal industry is educating homeowners so they can make the best financial decision regarding their home.
I decided to start my own appraisal firm that focuses on non-lender work so that I could work with homeowners directly and give them the information they need to make informed decisions. I wanted to put the power into the hands of the individuals that I was working for.
